We were liars – Book review

I have to warn you before reading this review that this book is not an ordinary YA book which is filled with a lots of teenage drama, expected twists and a relishing ending that will make us think that life is so beautiful. If that’s what you want then immediately stop reading this review and save yourself some time.

This 240 pages book written by E. Lockhart is a host for several awards including Amazon best YA book of the month and also best YA fiction in goodreads choice awards. This book deserves each and every one of them.

The story revolves around a girl name Cadence who is visiting her wealthy grandfathers house for her summer holidays like she did every summer, and also to meet her friends and the local boy. If i reveal the story too much then i will be the most cruel person in the world which i’m not. The unreliable first person narration make the book more addicting.

You will occasionally encounter a disconcerting narration that seems at first literal, but is in fact magical realism. For example, when Cady Sinclair Eastman, the 15-year-old narrator of the book, is recounting her parents’ divorce, she describes her father packing his things into his Mercedes. Then you read this: “Then he pulled out a handgun and shot me in the chest. I was standing on the lawn and I fell. The bullet hole opened wide and my heart rolled out of my rib cage and down into a flower bed. Blood gushed rhythmically from my open wound,
then from my eyes,
my ears,
my mouth.
It tasted like salt and failure. The bright red shame of being unloved soaked the grass in front of our house, the bricks of the path, the steps to the porch. My heart spasmed among the peonies like a trout.
Mummy snapped. She said to get hold of myself.” at first we may think that the scene actually happened which is not, it is just a poetic description of how devastated the narrator has become.

This books captured the most precious of the human emotions, it has friendship, family , love and most importantly it has “LIES”, the lies which are so bold and more beautiful than the truth. The Author can be considered as a genius in writing a story like this, this book may not be perfect (if we ever define perfect) but this will leave you with a tearful eyes and wrenching heart.

Finally, though this book mainly concentrates towards the YA audience it still has the potential to entertain the adult readers too who likes a good mystery story with genuine twists.

The Kite Runner-Book review

I would never forget the second hand book store at the end of the busy street which always seems like it never had any customers to buy books rather than to sell, because it gave me one of the best literature in this earth. There are billions of books in the past and will have trillions in the future but “The Kite Runner” will have its lofty place among them.

This 371 pages book written by Khaled Hosseini is a fiction book which concentrates on the relation between two friends, Amir who is the son of wealthy businessman and Hassan who is the son of his fathers servant, this book depicts the human emotions with rare delicacy and with sublime writing that demands to be felt profoundly.

Afghanistan breathes alive in this book, we can see it through the eyes of our protagonist Amir. We will be left with a feeling that comes with a long enlightening journey. My favorite character “Baba” with  his righteous decisions ,dauntless and audacious behavior actions will make an acute impression on us.

Finally i would recommend everyone who likes some strong mature characters with bold writing and heart wrenching story line.

Hello world! —

Hello world!

Never knew that writing could be this fun, expressing ourselves through words is one of the sublime experience. we want to share every tiny thing with the world, isn’t it the key to the sophistication of the humankind? sharing ones ideas and wisdom with the others, and working unitedly to reach…..the state where there is nothing to learn anymore. Don’t know that even the so called “state” exists or not but if something has a start then there should be an end for it, the quest of our knowledge should end before our extinction.
